Background:
The firm’s
founder and principal consultant, Robert L. DiLonardo, earned
a Master’s Degree in Finance and Investments from the
George Washington University in Washington, D.C., and an
undergraduate degree in Economics from Georgetown University,
also in Washington, D.C. Bob has extensive senior management
experience in retail with Macy*s and Carter Hawley Hale Stores.
Positions have included leadership roles in finance and accounting,
merchandising, inventory control, shortage control and internal
audit.
He
has held a wide range of senior sales and marketing management
positions for security equipment providers including:
National
Account Sales Manager and Director of Corporate Marketing
for Sensormatic Electronics Corp. (part of ADT), the world
leader in EAS and CCTV technology.
Vice President of Marketing and Sales for Security Tag
Systems, Inc. (acquired by Sensormatic), the acknowledged
leader in the design and manufacture of ink tags and benefit
denial devices.
Vice
President of Sales – East for Decision Point Data
(now Unicru), manufacturer of the original EAS alarm management
system and one of the early computer-based pre-employment
screening systems.
Known
as a forward thinker, Bob was the originator of ROI analysis
and graphic presentations in the EAS selling process –
designing and constructing the first custom spreadsheet model
in 1983. In
the early ‘90s, he was instrumental in the conception,
design, manufacture and marketing of benefit denial devices,
such as ink tags, tags that “mate” with EAS products,
and specialty tags. In 1996 he was awarded a U.S. patent
for the design of an anti-theft device that protects video
games and game players.
He
has published book chapters, feature articles, case studies,
opinions and academic research on a wide range of subjects,
including return on investment, retail loss prevention, EAS,
source tagging, RFID and other topics in publications such
as Security Technology & Design Magazine, Retail Business
Review, Stores Magazine, MMR, International Journal of Risk,
Loss Prevention Magazine, Security and Crime Prevention,
Security Journal, Automotive Aftermarket Business and Talking
Stick Magazine.
A
frequent seminar speaker, he has addressed ASIS International,
the National Institute
of Justice, National Retail Federation, New Zealand Security
Association, Retail Council of
Canada, Retail Industry Leaders Association (formerly IMRA),
Food Marketing Institute, Source Tagging Council and the
National Association of Chain Drug Stores.
